When you are decorating a new home, or planning a renovation of the home you already live in, it is important to consider changing the parts of the décor that will make the biggest impact on the overall perception of the room while not making a huge impact on your budget. One common thing that many people choose to update or change in their home is the type of window treatments that frame their windows and doors. While large bulky curtains are less popular today than they have been in the past, shades and blinds have increased in popularity. Roman blinds are a wonderful style of blind that is very versatile and stylish at the same time.
If you’ve never heard of roman blinds before, they are a style of retractable blind that is usually made from fabric. Roman blinds can be purchased or designed in any colour and in a wide variety of textures. If you have a den or library that you are hoping to keep cozy and relatively dimly lit, you can purchase roman blinds that are made from a heavier fabric, like tweed or velvet. If you are adding window treatments to a brighter, more frequently used room like a bathroom or kitchen, you can choose roman blinds that are made of a lighter, more breathable material.
If you’ve never seen roman blinds on a window before, you should know that they are all completely flat sheets of fabric when they are pulled all the way down. This makes them much neater and easier to clean than traditional slat blinds or large heavy curtains. However, when roman blinds are pulled up to let the sunlight in, they are designed to gather in very distinct and stylish ways. One style of roman blinds pulls up in to a horizontal line, and the other style pulls up into a more elegant teardrop design.
